The magical thatched cottage oozes rustic charm and is perfect for solo escapes or romantic getaways. This self catering thatched luxury cottage is just minutes away from the sought after beaches of Shaldon and Teignmouth.

The cottage is a stone and cob 17th Century converted thatched hayloft that has been carefully restored. The house rests in a green valley just off the imposing clifftop of Labrador Bay with its breathtaking views over Lyme Bay.

The Nest was recently restored to a high standard creating an excellent choice for couples, wanting to escape to the country. A real cozy country Devon home away from it all. Look out for owls, hawks, badgers, rabbits, and all kinds of wildlife. You will love it.

The entrance is through the private gates to the courtyard where there is parking for one car. Walk through the wicket gate and into the small private garden which overlooks beautiful pasture fields and across to the moor.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

The Nest bedroom will nestle your senses in pastural splendour and calm. What better way to end the day exhausted from a sunny day playing on the beach?
While in the bathroom, hand crafted units complement the gleaming white sunken shower tray, and cute hand basin. Carefully chosen hand and shower gels are supplied to help you relax after your journey.


The house is located off a quiet country road hidden from the summer crowds and is a short drive to the beach. Stokeinteignhead village with village shop and an excellent pub is just a short walk down the lane.

The nearest beach is in Shaldon, a magical holiday destination, promising every visitor a chance to escape. Wander down the old fishing village streets, the sunlight splashing golden splinters of summer all along the beach up to the cliffs and rock pools. Catch the oldest ferry in England for the short hop across to Teignmouth and laze on the pier, slurping ice cream and watching the surfers ride the waves.

For Relaxation

I'm sure we all want to be beside the seaside. And there are not many places that tick all the boxes for a relaxing escape that really is right next to the sea. Stokeinteignhead is blessed with centuries of history, pubs that have welcomed work weary farmers fresh from the fields are now cosy nooks for you and your friends to relax and soak up the atmosphere. Down the hill into Shaldon, restaurants, bars and galleries are aplenty as you wander along the shore with the waves gently lapping at your feet. And if you like to beachcombe, each new tide will deliver all sorts of treats for those with sharp eyes for gathering the harvest. Across the river into Teignmouth will increase the tempo slightly, with cinema, theatre, shopping and even more beaches. If you are detemined not to relax, then boat hire, scuba diving, wind surfing, and all manner of sea related fun is right there for the taking.


The Nest car park is right outside the cottage, safe and gated security. This cosy cottage is well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, hob and oven.

The cosy kitchen is the heart of the cottage, which makes cooking a dream. There's no place like Devon when it comes to clean seas, fertile land and passionate farmers, resulting in some of the freshest produce you'll find anywhere in the UK. Whether cooking up the catch of the day or enjoying an indoor feast with the patter of rain on the window, the dramatic backdrop will set the scene for unforgettable meal times.

Eating Out

Michelin Starred Ode Restaurant is serving up outstanding creative food with a prime position in Shaldon. After an afternoon's walk across the beach you can't beat a hot paper parcel of fish and chips. Great Pub grub can be found at the villages Church House Inn, just a short stroll down the lane from the Nest.
